Another Book Bites the Dust

Tonight as I have worked on my Data Sheet I realized something, I am honestly going to miss working with this book. Although I never noticed it before, I actually enjoyed reading it. I enjoyed trying to guess what may happen next in the novel and I enjoyed connecting with the characters and discovering my own bits of insanity. I also enjoyed the discussions, trying to decide what was wrong with the characters and why they acted the way they did. However, more than anything I will miss the anticipation and enjoyment of watching Shutter Island. Since we got the calender at the beginning of December which told us we would watch Shutter Island after reading the novel I got completely psyched, and the movie delivered. I am not sure I have ever had my mind quite so blown, never did I suspect that Leonardo was actually crazy and had been a patient on the Island all along. I can only hope that the next book we read will be just as entertaining and that if a movie accompanies it, it will be excellent as well. I really will miss reading this book.

  1. Chase, I can relate to missing the book. The topic of insanity lends itself very well to controversial discussions, which is something that we never seem to shy away from in AP English. It always seems that whenever people finally start liking a book, we already have to move on. Although, I can truthfully say that I never missed The Namesake.

  2. Chase, I can relate to your feelings about ending the book. I myself am very interested in psychological tales and why people do what they do, so I found this book very captivating. It is always exciting when you never know what will come next in a book or a movie, and I feel like both Shutter Island and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest did a good job of keeping us on the edge of our seats.

  3. Chase,I too enjoyed reading One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. I found it to be a bit ironic that we started learning about psychological disorders in Psychology right after completing the novel. This, I believed, expanded our base of knowledge about these disorders, and made the film extremely interesting to look back on, as well as the book.

  4. I, too, agree with you, Chase. I enjoyed reading One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest very much. It has been my favorite English book so far. The topic of insanity always kept the novel interesting and thought provoking. I also looked forward to watching Shutter Island. Even though I already saw it before I enjoyed watching it from a different perspective already knowing the ending.
